Mt. Boucherie Winery
Mt. Boucherie is one of our go to wineries when we are near Kelowna. We’ve been to the winery a few times and have previously tasted the 2004 Mt. Boucherie Cabernet Franc, 2005 Summit Reserve Cabernet Franc, 2009 Summit Reserve Pinot Noir and the 2006 Melange Noir (in that order). We both really enjoyed the 2009 Summit Reserve Pinot Noir so on a trip to Kelowna last year we stopped at the winery and picked up a couple of bottles of the 2010 Pinot Noir. This tasting was the first of that vintage.
2010 Summit Reserve Pinot Noir
Although the picture above doesn’t do it justice the wine is a brightish red in colour. The smell is filled with light colour fruit like cherries and strawberries. The taste is very smooth and filled with the flavour of strawberry and other light fruits. There is little tannin in the taste and no spicy finish which not only makes this a great wine for a meal of fish but also for an after dinner sipper! At $21 this is wine that is well worth the price in our opinion and Tara proclaimed it her all time favourite Pinot Noir. Sadly the 2010 Pinot Noir is no longer available from the winery, but the 2011 has been released. Might be time for a road trip.
