Meiomi Pinot Noir
We were lucky to be attending the University Golf Club Corporate Client appreciation night last week and received this bottle of Meiomi Pinot Noir as a door prize. We had tasted this wine before at various wine tastings, but had yet to have a bottle of it.

Meiomi wines come from a series of vineyards selected by Joe Wagner, Winemaker & Viticulturist for Belle Glos and Meiomi. Each vineyard is chosen by Joe for its unique flavors, textures and aromas. This Pinot Noir is a blend of multiple vineyards stretching along the California coast from Sonoma (31%), to Monterey (35%) and Santa Barbara (34%). The name Meiomi means “coast” in the language of the native, coastal dwelling Wappo and Yuki tribes, and pays tribute to the origin of this Pinot Noir.

Wine Tasting at Home – Meiomi Pinot Noir
This week, armed with new wine glasses (also a part of our door prize), we tasted the 2012 Meiomi Pinot Noir. This Pinot Noir is a blend of grapes from three California areas and is aged in French Oak barrels. It is a darker red than most Pinot Noir wines that we drink and has smells of cherry and plum. The taste is a little lighter but there is a good hint of spice and it offers a really smooth finish. At $24.99 per bottle this wine, while a little higher priced than our average everyday wine, is one we would definitely purchase again!
