Wine Tasting in the Okanagan
On a trip  through the Okanagan in August 2012 we visited Ex Nihilo winery (among others). You can read that blog here. We purchased a couple of their wines but hadn’t opened the 2010 Riesling until a week ago at a Bar-B-Que with friends.

Ex Nihilo Winery
Ex Nihilo is located in the Okanagan Valley about halfway between Vernon and Kelowna in an area known as Lake Country. The wine tasting room is 8,000 sq. feet and in addition to wine also serves as a room to showcase artwork. There is no shortage of things to look at as you taste the wine.

Ex Nihilo 2010 Riesling
The 2010 Riesling had 978 cases produced from the vineyard. The smell has a lot of citrus but what really struck us was the amount of apple in both the smell and tasting. The taste was very crisp and full of ripe fruit. It also had a smooth finish with no hint of oak (which we typically like especially in a white wine). We purchased the wine a year ago for $22.95 however the website now lists it at $30 per bottle. At the price we paid this was a great wine, but a $30 it might be a bit over priced.
