On a few of our many road trips to Invermere, BC we don’t always make the full 10 hour drive in one day so we pick a place to stop, taste wine and relax. Often we stay at Hotel 540 in Kamloops and enjoy their pool area. On this trip we decided to head off the Trans Canada Highway for a nice drive along Mara Lake and stay the night in Vernon, BC before heading to the Monte Creek Ranch Winery and on to Vancouver.
Pacific Inn & Suites
The newly built Pacific Inn & Suites has all kinds of amenities including all rooms with fridges and microwaves, really good high speed internet, a well appointed lobby with free coffee, fitness center, attached restaurant and lounge, banquet facilities and a large free parking lot. The staff at check-in were very friendly and welcoming.
We stayed in an Executive King which was a large room with the standard amenities along with a granite wet bar to mix our cocktails on, a couch with double sized sofa bed and a large desk and office chair. On our way out the free coffee station in the lobby also had cookies for an afternoon snack.
The Pacific Inn & Suites is attached to a Ricky’s All Day Grill but there are other options within walking distance including the Vernon Lake City Casino with MATCH Eatery & Public House. We had a few drinks and snacks there and both the staff and food were good. There is also a Wings Sports Bar and Wasabi Japanese restaurant behind the casino which we did not try. There are multiple Starbucks, Blenz and Tim Hortons on the way out of town in either direction for the morning after your stop-over. If you plan to stay longer there is plenty to do in the area including golf and beaches in the summer or skiing at Sliver Star in the winter.
We seem to be on road trips throughout BC a lot this year so if you have any hotels to recommend please leave us a comment and we will try to check them out.

Our 19th Hole Blog is about the places we visit and the things we do. When we say that we like or dislike something or have a good or bad experience this is our opinion and the truth as we see it.
