Red Truck Beer Company
As part of BC Craft Beer Month this October we are writing about downtown Vancouver breweries and tasting rooms. We started our Main Street Craft Beer tour at 33 Acres, stopped in at Brassneck, R&B Brewing, Main Street Brewery and finished at Red Truck. Red Truck Beer Company is located on East 1st Ave a block off Main Street. It is open seven days a week at 11am. Except for the monthly concert days when it is closed until 4pm. We have now been to Red Truck three times – twice for lunch and beer and once for a concert and beer. Try to get a coveted seat on the patio. The view is not of Vancouver mountains but of the fleet of beautiful old Red Trucks!
The Truck Stop
The Truck Stop is the brewery diner and show-piece. It has seating both inside and out for 100+ guests, 24 taps and a truck stop-inspired menu with a west coast twist. The staff has been terrific each time that we have visited. It is a place that you want to go for a burger, grilled cheese or chilli cheese fries (which are yummy) to go with your beer flight but they also do serve soups, salads and breakfast all day.
Red Truck Beers
We like all of Red Truck’s beer but have narrowed our favorites to the IPA and the ISA.
Red Truck IPA – 6.3% alcohol and 69 IBU. Some citrus flavors and sweetness compliment the bitterness to make this one easy to drink.
Red Truck ISA – This golden beauty also has a bit of citrus and bitterness but is low in alcohol content at 4.2%. It’s like a light IPA.
Red Truck Concert Series
The Red Truck concert series saw bands performing on an outdoor stage in the brewery parking lot once a month this summer. We were fortunate enough to have been given tickets to the last concert of the season. We were not planning to attend any of the concerts as we are not big outdoor concert fans in general (standing, lineups, porta-potties, etc). But this time we were pleasantly surprised and had a great time! There were enough staff on hand to sell drink tickets and to pour beer that we never had to wait. The music was great and indoor facilities were available. This brewery looks great at night all lit up and we will be back for a concert in next year’s series.
Red Truck is a good last stop on a Main Street brewery walk.
