Coal Harbour Waffles
There is a new waffle joint in Coal Harbour. It really just serves waffles and that focus makes the waffles pretty good. About a year ago a string of businesses opened on the main floor of a new residential tower building across the street from us in the 1400 block of W Pender. We have walked by both Waffle & Berries and Soirette Macarons & Tea (future blog) for the whole year before stopping in. Waffle & Berries features Belgian Liege Waffles with a series of sweets and fruits for toppings. They also have a full coffee bar and bake croissants, muffins and cookies in house (which we have not yet sampled).

The restaurant is small inside and can seat about 20 but the street side tables are a nice addition for summer. There is a daily special posted outside.

I ordered one Belgian Liege Waffle ($3.95) with freshly whipped cream and blueberries (various toppings $1.50 to $1.95 each). Other options included dark or milk chocolate, nutella, jams and syrup. All were a bit too sweet for me. The waffle was crisp on the outside and light in the middle. The berries were fresh and overall it was a pretty good breakfast. For me though, I prefer some savory options over the sweet ones, like those available at Nero Belgian Waffle on Robson Street.

There is a full coffee bar and a counter full of sweet treats. I will be back to try the tea lattes with an afternoon treat and will write about them at a later date.
