Nook Restaurant
Nook now has two locations in Vancouver. One in Kitsilano and one on Denman Street about 5 minutes walk from our front door. They are both open at 5pm daily and you should expect to wait. The Kitsilano location offers weekend brunch starting at 10:30 but the Denman location does not – we hope it does soon though!

Our Favorite Restaurants List
We wrote a blog about Nook back in July 2012 which was our first visit to Nook together. We said that we would likely go back again to sit at the bar because the service was so good and the bartender was fun to watch and chat with. Well we have now been back on countless occasions and Chris (the bartender) has been there on each one to welcome us. The food and the service at Nook on Denman remain outstanding and we have declared the place a favorite!

Great Food
The menu is small but perfect with only 5 or 6 each of antipasto/salads, pasta and pizza. The wine list is also small but with some great selections and there are usually a few beers available – no cocktails. The pizza oven gives off a great aroma and it is fascinating to watch the tossing and cooking process from a seat at the bar. Everything is simple and delicious!

Nook, Denman Street, Vancouver, BCSalami’s – Daily Selection ($16).

eNook, Denman Street, Vancouver, BCFoccaccia ($6) – Always just out of the oven, loaded with strong shaved parmesan
and served with oil and balsamic for dipping (though you do not need it).

Nook, Denman Street, Vancouver, BCGnocchi with baby meatballs ($17) – light and fluffy gnocchi with delicious meatballs and sauce plus a generous portion of parmesan every time.

Nook, Denman Street, Vancouver, BCSpaghetti Bolognese ($16) – Jeff’s all time favorite Bolognese (I even like it too!). It’s made with beef, lamb and pork. We’ll see if it holds up as favorite after our trip to Italy this fall.

Nook, Denman Street, Vancouver, BCSpaghetti Puttanesca ($16) – tangy with lots of capers, garlic, anchovies and olives.
A nice alternative to Bolognese every once in a while.

There is a line up to get in pretty much every night – rain or shine. Seats for 2 and bar seats are easier to come by than a tables for 3 or 4. If you are waiting inside Chris will offer you a drink while you are standing which always makes the wait go by faster. You should try it soon!
