Social Media Week Vancouver
Social Media Week is an International event with sessions held in cities around the world. Social Media Week Vancouver has 31 events scheduled. We started with two events on Monday.

We attended:
Social Media monitoring, intelligence and brand chatter at the ING Direct Cafe
Crisis + Issues Management in Social Media at the W2 Building

Here are our favorite takeaways from Monday…
“Respond to every single comment both positive and negative” – 6S Marketing
By responding to negative comments you can diffuse the situation, get the facts and say sorry. By sharing positive comments and saying thanks, you have the potential to turn customers into advocates.

“It does not make a difference how big your following is. It is the engagement that matters” – Bosco Anthony
It is not necessarily the account with the most followers that wins. You should examine your traffic for quality of engagement. Review what website pages/blogs and what social media posts get the most hits – what are they looking at and for how long. Is the social sentiment good or bad? These things are what matter more than numbers.

“Wow your audience.” – Bosco Anthony
Jeff likes to end all of his talks with “Be Awesome!” But now he might borrow this quote from Bosco instead. You need to “Wow” your audience to keep them engaged.

There are still many events left on Thursday and Friday so check out the Vancouver Social Media Week Schedule here.
